Native to New Zealand, the Tuna/ Longfin Eel are cherished by many and some would say they are part of our DNA. The Tuna/ Longfin Eel is currently at risk in NZ and numbers of these incredible taonga are unfortunately declining. There are two Longfin Eel Necklaces in my latest Nature Studies collection as I have long been fascinated by these indigenous animals.

I have crafted this particular piece from Sterling Silver and applied a textural finish to replicate the Tuna/ Longfin Eel's skin. Featured in the middle of the Pendant is a large Moonstone set with a highly polished surround.

As with all my pieces, I treat each work like miniature sculpture, therefore the back of this piece is also fully carved. There is a second little Eel nestled into the back of the main Eel as it's companion, and a third smaller Eel, which serves as a decorative toggle. This is a very solid and quite weighty piece.
