This piece is carved from Mammoth Ivory and is, of course, one of a kind. I wanted to pair this incredibly ancient and rare material together with an equally rare animal, and the Kōtuku / White Heron, which is critically endangered in New Zealand, came instantly to mind. I find the beauty of this bird quite breathtaking with it's white plumage, elegant form and graceful movements.
