The Rat King Pendant was a design I had in my imagination for many years after seeing a real 'Rat King' in the Dunedin Museum in 1997 on a trip with my best friend. The idea of the Rat King has always intrigued me and I wanted to carve my own interpretation of this to be worn as a pendant.

There are x7 rats that make up the main pendant design and one rat that features as the toggle for the clasp. Each rat has it's own personality and the pendant is completely 3 dimensional so the 'back' face of the pendant is just as detailed as the front.

I looked after my sister's pet rat as a teenager and I adored him. They are such intelligent creatures. 

This piece is hand carved and crafted in Sterling Silver, suspended on a black woven cord.
