Ama Vitam - Latin for 'Love Life'
Inspired by an anatomical sketch by Leonardo da Vinci of a fetus/child in the womb (c.1510), Ama Vitam comprises of a baby carved from tagua nut, suspended from a yellow gold chain. The pendant is housed within a secondary nut representative of the womb. The pendant can be removed from the stand and worn when desired.
Ama Vitam is a great example of one of my Collector Sets.
Collector Sets are works that feature a special jewellery item or a series of work which come housed together with a custom display. The idea with these pieces is that they can be appreciated visually as a complete work of art, or objet d’art, but also allow each jewellery item to be taken out and worn individually when desired.
