Fly's have been with us since the beginning of time. Handcrafted Fly Amulets were worn by various cultures and awarded in Ancient Egypt as a badge of honor. They were a symbol of courage, strength, and tenacity. These insects were perceived as masters of the air, and invulnerable.

When photographing the Lucilia sericata (Green Bottle Fly) in my own garden, it stuck me how intensely beautiful they are. When zooming in on my photographs I was able to see their full beauty, their green/copper bodies were iridescent like a pearl, and their striking red eyes shone like rubies. It was then, I realized, I had to create a Gold ambassador to be worn and displayed, to represent their species.

With a backdrop of luscious purple velvet, the Golden Wing Fly Pendant can be removed from the back of the frame and worn when desired. This piece is hand crafted in 18ct Yellow Gold, with intricately fine pattern work hand engraved into the wings. Rubies represent their striking eyes and I have used an iridescent pearl for the body.
