Materials: Hand Engraved 18ct Yellow Gold, Fresh Water Pearls, x4 Rubies 2mm in diameter

Inspired by observations in my own garden, the concept for these earrings had been brewing in my mind for months. Through photographing scenes in my own garden I can closely observe the plants and insects that live amongst it. I have always been attracted to the less 'celebrated' creatures in our world, as every living organism plays a role in our ecosystem and is equally important. When photographing the Lucilia sericata (Green Bottle Fly) it stuck me how intensely beautiful they are. When zooming in on my photographs I was able to see their full beauty, their green or copper bodies were iridescent like a pearl, and their striking red eyes shone like rubies. It was then, I realized, I had to turn these little creatures into wearable ambassadors for their species.
